Disney World Haunted Mansion Updates
Screamscape.com is reporting some updates for the Haunted Mansion renovation currently taking place.
Screamscape has obtained some confirmed information about the Haunted Mansion rehab at Walt Disney World which will involve the addition of a new Staircase scene, and upgrades to two other scenes. They confirm that The Black Widow Bride (they call it the Haunted Bride) “who’s husbands always seem to get the ax…” is indeed coming to the attic. The all new floating Madame Leota séance scene will also be added. They mention that the new effects for the Bride and floating Leota are new and improved over what was just installed in the Disneyland mansion not long ago. The all new scene being added to a previously “dead space” will be the Staircase scene as described last week. In addition to this will also be the expected upgrades to the audio, lighting and effects systems. It’s great to see the Magic Kingdom finally wake up and start to take care of their classic attractions and upgrade the effects over time as has been going on at Disneyland for years now.
This has always been one of my favorite attractions. I am glad to see that they making these updates.

Disney needs to think about a little bit of simplicity. Has anyone else noticed that every Disney ride has become way too complicated? There are a million things going on at once and the rides have completely changed since their original days. Now, instead of a single story line which follows through using the characters to tell the story, Disney uses too many ’special effects’ that aren’t so special. They seem to throw glow in the dark paint everywhere and blacklights … and the figures are no longer the lovable animatronic robots that resemble real people … it is more video/cutout based. I feel bad that Disney chooses to throw in a few cheap special effects here and there that look misplaced in the rides and paint everything else to glow in the dark like a cheap carnival ride. Sometimes less is more and classic is … well, classic.
