Who can help you with your last minute Halloween costume? Microsoft can. That’s right I said Microsoft. They have directions on their site on how to make your own Halloween mask. The instructions are all on the site. If you have waited until the last minute check it out. You can also download the most recent security patches while you are there.
Happy Halloween

Halloween is just not Halloween without a few television specials. When I was younger it seems that there were a lot more prime time Halloween specials. Not so much anymore. Sure every show has a Halloween episode but that is not the same. I am talking about the prime time cartoon Halloween specials like Garfield, Fat Albert and of course the classic It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. Tonight ABC is airing the Great Pumpkin. I will be watching. I still don’t care for the whole World War I flying ace part but I love watching Charlie Brown get rocks when he is trick or treating. I think this year I might hand out rocks. A bag of lava rocks is a lot cheaper than a bag of candy.

Guitar Hero III just came out. In a move to possibly steal some thunder from the competitor Rock Band just released their set list. I noticed that more than a few of the songs have already been done by Guitar Hero franchise. I am still undecided if I am going to get this or not. I have a Wii but I am still unclear if it is going to be available for the Wii or not. It is reportedly coming out for the PS2 which I also have but it will be a scaled down version. I think it will be fun to play but I am not going to buy a new console for one game.

As the story goes Emma Crawford was buried at the top of a mountain. It rained and her remains were washed down the side of the mountain. To commemorate this the town of Manitou Springs, CO holds an annual coffin race. I love this idea. Build a coffin. Put it on wheels. Race it. I want to build an old toe pincher and race it. I missed the event this year and I don’t think I will make to to Colorado for the event next year. Maybe I can start a local chapter here.

I just watched Prison of the Psychotic Damned released by Red Scream Films LLC. Here is the premise of the movie. A train station closed years ago and like most old train stations it was converted into a prison for the criminally insane. Fast forward to present time. The first few minutes are incoherent. There is a girl and she likes to lick things and cut herself. Then we get into the meat of the story. Five people in Buffalo, NY go to investigate the train station prison. It is reportedly haunted and full of bad mojo. Nothing really happens- that is until the witching hour. That is when all hell breaks loose. I am not exactly sure what was going on but I do know that an orange ball of light was chasing people down and people were dying and there might have been a zombie.
I rented the film through Netflix. Netflix told me based on how I rated previous films that I was going to hate this movie. I was impressed with the opening credits. I know it is a B movie but they were surprisingly well done. The editing is very choppy and they do the Blair Witch handheld camera thing. It makes the movie hard to follow and if you are prone to motion sickness or seizures you might want to avoid watching this movie altogether. The main characters in the movie could all use a session or two with Dr. Phil. They are all angry. There is no character development. I don’t even remember their names. Overall I didn’t hate the movie. I have seen far worse. It isn’t great either. It is one of those movies that is fine if you have 90 minutes to kill. The oddest thing about the movie is the DVD itself. There is a picture of Jesus on the DVD. Jesus is definetly not in the movie nor is this a movie about Jesus.

Venexx makes this watch that sprays perfume. You can fill it with perfume or cologne and when you don’t feel as fresh as you would like. Spray. It would also be great if you have a stinky person next to you. Ever been stuck on a plane next to someone who smells? Not a problem anymore. Although TSA might have a fit if you try to go through security with it on. If I had this watch I could go for a week without having to take a shower. I am pretty sure James Bond has a watch like this except it is filled with acid or poison and not cologne.

Leave it to the Japanese to come up with a new innovative way to make Jack-O-Lanterns. Instead of using a tradition pumpkin they are using a school of butterfish. The face is glued to the side of an aquarium and the fish with the help of some food provided by a diver swim into a ball and create the pumpkin.

“We accept her! We accept her! One of us! One of us! Gooble gobble, gooble gobble! One of us! One of us!” If you are looking for a classic film to watch for Halloween look no further than Todd Browning’s Freaks. This movie has it all. Love, deception and murder. Most disturbing is the fact that real sideshow freaks were cast in the movie. No special effects. Rent it or buy it. You won’t be disappointed.
