I just read that the Rix Lounge is going to be the newest lounge at Walt Disney World. It will be located at the Coronado Springs Resort and will have 300 seats. They will have a band and a DJ and some tapas. On one hand this makes sense. That hotel caters to a lot of convention visitors and now there is something to do when the convention is over. On the other hand the resort clubs have not always been that popular. Atlantic Dance is a prime example of that. In its day it was busy but the business slowed down. The have tried changing themes and it works for awhile but it has never really taken off. I guess we will just have to see how this does.
I have a pickle ornament on my tree. I don’t have any kids to search for it but I like the idea of hanging a pickle from my Christmas Tree. The Christmas pickle is supposed to have originated in Germany. As the story goes the pickle was the last ornament placed on the Christmas Tree. On the day the gifts were opened the child that found the pickle ornament was given another special gift. There is some debate around the origin of that story. I don’t care one way or the other. A cool ornament is a cool ornament. You can check out the Christmas Pickle story here. If you need your own Christmas pickle ornament just do a google search. There are plenty of places selling them.
I have read that this item is all the rage in Japan. I don’t see it taking off here. Why would I want to attach a tiny cactus to my cell phone? I can’t imagine a person approaching me and saying “Hey, I love your mini pet cell phone cactus. Where did you get it?” Now I could be wrong about this but I don’t think so.
The Big Fez sent this to me. If I were on The Simpsons this is what my character would look like. It is a pretty good likeness. I am pretty sure that is a Mai Tai in my hand.
There are plenty of holiday drinks. Here is one I threw together a few years ago. As I am not aware of anyone else making one I am claiming it as a Mr. Mai Tai original.
6 oz. Yoo-Hoo
1 oz. Kahlua
1/2 oz. Creme de Menthe
Pour all of the ingredients over ice in a mixer. Give it a good shake. Strain and pour. It gives you a minty chocolaty good drink. A perfect after dinner drink perfect for the holiday season. If you need to kick it up the alcohol you can add some vodka to the list of ingredients. You can add between an half ounce to an ounce without changing the taste of the drink.
Halloween and Thanksgiving are over. What do you do with those left over pumpkins? I suggest you build a pumpkin cannon and enter the Punkin Chunkin Contest. You have almost a year to get ready for the big event.
