Disney Contemporary Resort Construction

Disney Contemporary Resort Construction

Disney’s Contemporary Resort has had a crane next to with some construction going on for some time now.  Thing was Disney wasn’t saying to much about it.  They still aren’t saying a whole lot but all of the local papers are reporting that the construction is going to be a 15 story tower with a walkway that will connect the new tower to the original hotel.  The new tower will be time shares.  No word on what they are going to cost but I am going to go out on a limb and guess that they are going to be on the expensive side.

Trader Vic’s Sale

February 28th, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

If only I lived in California. If I did I would be sure to check out Trader Vic’s. They have opened their warehouse and for a limited time are selling some of their overstock. Alas, I don’t live in California so I am out of luck.

Blueberry Beer

February 27th, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

Two years ago I took a tour of the St. Louis Anheuser Busch Brewery.  It was worth the trip out there.  At the end they take you into a room with an open bar and you can taste some of their tried and true products along with some that they are testing.  I tasted a few.  One of them was a beer with blueberry flavoring.  I like blueberry’s but did not care for this beer.  Mrs. Mai Tai gave it a try.  She usually likes fruity beers.  She drank it but it wasn’t her favorite either.  I just read that they are releasing Wild Blue.  It is a premium lager with as they describe it “a bite of blueberry.”  It looks different than the version we tried.  If I can find it I might give it another go.  You really need to try something twice before you say it is no good.

Shark Migration

February 26th, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

Right on the heels of the man getting killed by the shark in Fort Luaderdale comes the annual shark migration.  Thousands of spinner, black tip and reef sharks are making their annual swim back north.  This picture was taken from a helicopter.  All those black dots you see.  Sharks.  This would be a good time to stay out of the water.

Florida Shark Attack

February 25th, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

I think this is the first death of the year attributed to a shark attack.  I have gone diving off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.  I have never seen a shark in the water on any of my dives there but I know they are out there.

Budweiser Chelada Post 2

February 20th, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

Back in July I posted about a new drink that Anheuser Busch was introducing.  That drink was the Chelada.  A delicious mix of beer, tomato juice and clamato.  I have received e-mails and comments about the beverage asking where can I get it.  Well the good people at Anheuser Busch just sent me an e-mail and gave me the low down on the product.  The good news is that as of 1/14/08 the beverage is now available nation wide.  It is being stocked at my local grocery store so it should be in a store near you.  If you are not familiar with the beverage this is how they describe it.

This distinctive beverage is a refreshing, authentic combination of Budweiser and Bud Light mixed with Clamato® Tomato Cocktail. It is perfect with a lime garnish or with a little hot sauce if you like it spicy! Grab some chips and salsa, call up some friends and you’ll be the life of the party.

So go on out and grab a Budweiser Chelada or a Bud Lite Chelada and the taste sensation that is sweeping the nation.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith

February 20th, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is being released in June of 2008.  I think this version is going hit or miss.  If you like Aerosmith this is going to be great.  If you don’t like Aerosmith you will probably pass on this one.  It will be interesting to see how well it does.  If it is a big seller I am sure we will see more.  I can totally seeing them doing a Guitar Hero: Kiss.

Banana Wall

February 19th, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

Artist Stefan Stagmeister has a banana wall on display at the Deitch Gallery in New York City.  The wall is made of 7,200 real bananas.  I think you can probably smell the wall before you see it.  I have had a couple of bananas rot on me.  I can’t imagine what 7,200 rotting bananas smell like.  Still it would be neat to see.

Lunar Eclipse

February 19th, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

There is a lunar eclipse tomorrow.  While not as cool as a solar eclipse the lunar eclipse has some things going for it.  They happen more frequently and you won’t go blind staring at it.  It is supposed to start between 10:00 pm and 10:50 and last three hours.   You think scientists could be a little more precise with the time.   What if I am held captive by an angry tribe of ferocious natives.  They are going to kill me and eat me.  I tell them that my magic is strong and I will block out the moon at 10:00 if they don’t release me.  If it doesn’t start until 10:15 am I going to be an appetizer.  Thanks a lot scientists.
