I don’t drink a lot of Pepsi soda or any other soda for that matter but I noticed all of the Pepsi advertisements in the Sunday ads were all for eight packs. I don’t know if this is happening in other places around the country but in Central Florida the twelve packs of Pepsi beverages are silently being replaced by eight packs. The kicker is that they are the same price as the old twelve packs. What used to get me twelve cans of soda now gets me only eight. Nice.
Update: I just found an article in the newspaper about the change. Looks like we are a test market.

I am a few days late Fear Fest ‘08 is currrently going on over at the AMC cable channel. It is running through Halloween so there are a few more days to catch lots of great horror movies. They are edited for television but are good if you don’t have anything else to watch or if you need to get into the Halloween mood.

Once a year I go in for my annual eye examination. Some people don’t like the dentist. I don’t like the eye doctor. He is actually a very nice individual I just don’t like anything that has to do with eyeballs. I can watch lots of horror movies without a problem. That is unless someone loses an eye or there is an eye related injury. I remember watching CSI: Miami where one of them got shot in the eye with a nail gun. That was hard for me to watch. I know that when I go to the eye doctor they are going to want to puff some air in my eye. I hate that test. That is if I will even let them do it. Usually my closes before the puff ever comes. I am a challenging patient. I just feel like you shouldn’t be puffing air into my eye. It is unnatural. Fortunately my eyes are fine and I just have to see the guy once a year. That was until my last visit. My years of staring at the television and computer have caught up to me and he said I am going to eventually need eyeglasses. Contacts are out. There is no way I could put them in. He gave me a prescription and said you can choose to get them now or hold off. He said that it was a very mild prescription and wo wear them when I work on the computer. I went to see about getting some frames and they are crazy expensive. I have insurance and the out of pocket cost was still over $100. That may not be a lot to some of you but that is a lot to me. I recently came across ZenniOptical.com. They have prescription glasses starting at just $8.00. Now that is what I like to see. Pun intended. If I do get glasses I want to get some like Buddy Holly. That would be cool.

Halloween has changed a lot since I was a kid. I would get dressed up and walk around the neighborhood trick or treating. When I was younger I would go with my parents and as I got older I was allowed to go with my friends. I always stayed in our neighborhood or if I was at a friends house their neighborhood. These days kids I have never seen before come to my house begging for candy. I drive by the bus stop every day and I know they aren’t from my community. Then if you are giving out something good the kids come back two or three times. Last year a kid came back five minutes after he left with his mask turned inside out. The first time he was Superman. The second time he was inside out mask Superman. I asked him if he had been here before and he said no. I shut the door. He could have at least said he was Bizarro Superman or “I’m inside out mask Superman, now give me some candy.” I would have given him a Tootsie Roll for being clever. Then there are the parents that drive the kids from house to house. What ever happend to walking? Is it any wonder that there is a childhood obesity problem when your kid is to lazy to walk from house to house? If it wasn’t so expensive I would hand out bug filled candy to those trick or treaters. While novel no kid is going to return for seconds on a worm lollipop. The problem is the candies are expensive. I might go the Charlie Brown route and just hand out rocks to strange and greedy kids. Rocks are cheap.

I am a zombie fan. Think Geekjust made a Dismember-Me Plush Zombie available for sale on their site. If the dismembered arms, legs and head weren’t choking hazards I would replace Baby Mai Tais Teddy Bear with one of these.

New Holland Brewing has a seasonal brew for Halloween called Ichabod. The story of the Headless Horseman is one of my favorites so naturally I like the name of this beer. I have never seen it in my area but now that I know they make it I will keep my eyes open for it.

You can choose all sorts of candy to give out at Halloween. The choices are endless. This year I have been looking for that unique candy. The candy that no other house is giving out. I think I may have found it. This year I want to give out Sour Flush Candy Toilets. What kid wouldn’t like taking a small lollipop shaped as a plunger and dipping it into a plastic toilet full of flavored sugar? I know I would have loved it.
