Star Wars weekends is going strong at the Disney Hollywood Studios. Just in time for the event Disney released PVC figures of the muppets characters dressed as Star Wars Characters. I have not seen them yet but I wish they were 6″ action figures and not PVC figures.

I don’t Dragon Boat Race. I don’t know anyone who Dragon Boat races. I don’t even know where you would look to find a Dragon Boat to race. I feel a little left out because Florida is apparently a Dragon Boat Racing hotspot. So much so that Disney is having Dragon Boat Racing in October. Who knew?

There are plenty of movies that take place in Ireland. If you are looking for a good movie to watch for St. Patrick’s Day I suggest Darby O’Gill and the Little People. It has everything Irish in it. Leprechauns- got ‘em. Drunk Irishman- got ‘em. Banshees- got ‘em. Sean Connery singing- oh yeah it has it. You couldn’t ask for more. If you haven’t seen it check it out. If you have seen it watch it again. Happy St. Patrick’s Day.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort has had a crane next to with some construction going on for some time now. Thing was Disney wasn’t saying to much about it. They still aren’t saying a whole lot but all of the local papers are reporting that the construction is going to be a 15 story tower with a walkway that will connect the new tower to the original hotel. The new tower will be time shares. No word on what they are going to cost but I am going to go out on a limb and guess that they are going to be on the expensive side.

There are rumors buzzing that Disney is going to announce that they are going to build a 5th gate. It is being called Disney’s Night Kingdom (I am guessing that name is going to change) and it is going to be a theme park open at night. Now I am not so sure about this rumor. I have heard it before. Actually, I have heard it a lot. The last time I heard something it was about the reported villain theme park Disney was going to build. According to the article Disney is going to formally announce the new park sometime this year. Time will tell but I am not holding my breath.

The Disney Hollywood Studios announced a new attraction today. They have partnered with American Idol and will open up one of the old theatres to people who think they can sing. Contestants sing in front of a casting director and the good ones will move on and get to sing on the stage in front of other people visiting the park. I don’t watch the show and don’t get caught up in what is going on with the contestants but I am sure there will be no shortage of people trying to get on stage to sing. I think this is one new attraction that I will skip.

I am not a huge fan of Disney’s Pleasure Island but I like to know what is going on with the local theme parks. According to the local news Disney’s Rock N Roll Beach Club one of the older clubs on Pleasure Island is going to be closing on 2/2. If you are a fan of the club or want to see it before it closes you better go soon.

If you were planning a family dinner at Disney’s Victoria & Albert’s restaurant you best leave the kids at home. Kids under 10 are now banned from the restaurant. This is probably a good thing. What kid would want to sit in a restaurant for three hours while the parents eat a seven course dinner. I might have trouble sitting still that long.

I just read that the Rix Lounge is going to be the newest lounge at Walt Disney World. It will be located at the Coronado Springs Resort and will have 300 seats. They will have a band and a DJ and some tapas. On one hand this makes sense. That hotel caters to a lot of convention visitors and now there is something to do when the convention is over. On the other hand the resort clubs have not always been that popular. Atlantic Dance is a prime example of that. In its day it was busy but the business slowed down. The have tried changing themes and it works for awhile but it has never really taken off. I guess we will just have to see how this does.
