Disney Raises Ticket Prices

August 4th, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

It just got a little more expensive to visit Disney World. This usually prompts the other parks to raise their prices. I wonder which will be first- Sea World or Universal.

Disney World Haunted Mansion Updates

August 1st, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

Screamscape.com is reporting some updates for the Haunted Mansion renovation currently taking place.

Screamscape has obtained some confirmed information about the Haunted Mansion rehab at Walt Disney World which will involve the addition of a new Staircase scene, and upgrades to two other scenes. They confirm that The Black Widow Bride (they call it the Haunted Bride) “who’s husbands always seem to get the ax…” is indeed coming to the attic. The all new floating Madame Leota séance scene will also be added. They mention that the new effects for the Bride and floating Leota are new and improved over what was just installed in the Disneyland mansion not long ago. The all new scene being added to a previously “dead space” will be the Staircase scene as described last week. In addition to this will also be the expected upgrades to the audio, lighting and effects systems. It’s great to see the Magic Kingdom finally wake up and start to take care of their classic attractions and upgrade the effects over time as has been going on at Disneyland for years now.

This has always been one of my favorite attractions. I am glad to see that they making these updates.

This doesn’t come as a surprise to me at all.  I have only been there a handful of times and it is never busy.

Jedi Training Academy

July 16th, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

It has been announced that the Jedi Training Academy that they roll out during Star Wars weekends at the Disney-MGM Studios is going to be a permanent addition to the park.  Now kids will get to test their skill with a lightsaber against Darth Vader everyday.  I am all for more Star Wars at the parks.  They put up a temporary stage for the event.  I am wondering if they are going to use the same area for the permanent stage or if they are going to change the exterior like when they turned Endor Vendors into Tatooine Traders.

Fort Wilderness Lawnmower Tree

July 3rd, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

If you are ever visiting Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort you should look for the Lawnmower Tree.  I don’t know how it happened but a pine tree has grown over an old lawnmower.  I have been to Fort Wilderness countless times and I just noticed it a few years ago.  This probably appeals to the same people that look for hidden Mickey’s.  You can visit Walt Disney World again and again and see something new each time.

Explosive Device at Downtown Disney

July 2nd, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

Just read this in the news.  A possible explosive device is being investigated in a dumpster or large trash bin.  That might explain all of the helicopters flying around Downtown Disney this morning.  Here is the full article.

Update:  It is no longer a possible explosive device it was a pipe bomb that someone threw in a dumpster.  Here is the updated article.
