Jon Bon Jovi Cake

September 5th, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

Mrs. Mai Tai loves Jon Bon Jovi. The Cake Store in London makes a Jon Bon Jovi cake. If I lived in the UK I would get her one of these.   At 85 pounds it is reasonably priced.  I call the piece with the chest hair.

Laser Harp

July 15th, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

I never though the harp was a cool instrument.  That is until I saw this laser harp.  I think lasers would make most instruments cooler but it does wonders for the harp.  If you are a kid in school and you tell your classmates you play the harp you would get laughed.  The school bully might even beat you up.  If you said you played the laser harp everyone would just look at you and say “Cool.” If you want to build your own laser harp you can get the plan on Stephen Hobley’s web site.

20 Best Halloween Songs

October 9th, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

FineTune has compiled a list of the 20 best Halloween songs.  The problem with lists is that most people will disagree with some of the selections.  This one is no different.  As much as the song is overplayed during Halloween shouldn’t Monster Mash be included?  Perhaps that is on the 20 Best Novelty Halloween Songs list and what about Werewolves of London and the Ghostbusters Theme Song?  Who doesn’t like a little Ray Parker Jr?  There is also Nightmare on My Street by DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince that is a great song about Freddy Kruger what is there not to like?

Here is the list according to FineTune:

1.       Blue Oyster Cult – Don’t Fear the Reaper

2.       Screamin’ Jay Hawkins – I Put a Spell on You

3.       Oingo Boingo – Dead Man’s Party

4.       Talking Heads – Psycho Killer

5.       Pink Floyd – Careful with that Axe

Disney Records Introduces New CD Format

July 19th, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

Walt Disney Records/Hollywood Records has come out saying it is introducing a new format for their cd’s.  They are calling it CDVU+ and they will add easter eggs and bonus content that can be downloaded similar to DVD’s.  I rarely buy DVD’s for their extra content and that will hold true for music cd’s.  If I like the artist I will buy the cd or download the music.  Admittedly, I don’t think they are targeting me with these new cd’s.  I am not interested in buying a Hilary Duff  Cheetah Girls album.  Maybe it will appeal to that crowd.   Personally, I  think this is more of a gimmick to drive sagging cd sales.
