Ric Flair Retires

April 3rd, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

Monday night Mr. Mai Tai drove downtown to Orlando to see Monday Night Raw. It was awesome. Most of the WWE stable of wrestlers came out to pay their tribute to Ric Flair. The show stopped broadcasting but the farewell went on for another 20 minutes at the arena. The Undertaker and Vince McMahon came out to say their goodbyes. I have never seen so many wrestlers out at once.

Mr. Mai Tai on The Simpsons

December 5th, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

The Big Fez sent this to me. If I were on The Simpsons this is what my character would look like. It is a pretty good likeness.  I am pretty sure that is a Mai Tai in my hand.

Wrestlemania XXIV

November 2nd, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

I am a wrestling fan.  Not as much as I used to be but I still follow it.  I  have been to a number of live events.  A few years ago WWE held one of their pay-per-views in Orlando.  This was the first time that I can remember a pay-per-view taking place here so I went to see Armageddon with my friends.  This year WWE announced that Wrestlemania XXIV would take place in Orlando at the Citrus Bowl.  Wrestlemania is like the Super Bowl for wrestling.  This is probably the only time I will go to a Wrestlemania event and it is right in my backyard.  I will be going.  I had been checking Ticketmaster regularly to see when the tickets were going for sale.  On Monday I received an e-mail that said I could take part in a limited pre-sale as I had purchased tickets before for an event at the Citrus Bowl.  That pre-sale started yesterday.  The tickets officially go on sale on Saturday.  At 10:00 I made sure the computer was on and with the help of a friend we did the search for tickets.  We started out with a $90 ticket.  $90 was the base price you had to add in quite a few additional fees.  After fees it was a little too expensive so we went to the $50 tickets.  They were more reasonable.  The Citrus Bowl is not my favorite venue in town.  I would have had a hard time paying over $100 for tickets at the Citrus Bowl.  $50 is about the right amount for that stadium.  On 3/30/08 I will be one of the thousands of people in attendance.  My only worry.  The Citrus Bowl is not covered.  Florida weather in March is unpredictable.  It could be warm it could be cold.  It could by raining or it could be sunny.  Sitting for hours in the pouring rain is not going to be that much fun.  Here is hoping for good weather.  Are you ready to rumble?

Great Pumpkin

October 30th, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

Great PumpkinHalloween is just not Halloween without a few television specials.  When I was younger it seems that there were a lot more prime time Halloween specials.  Not so much anymore.  Sure every show has a Halloween episode but that is not the same.  I am talking about the prime time cartoon Halloween specials like Garfield, Fat Albert and of course the classic It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.  Tonight ABC is airing the Great Pumpkin.  I will be watching.  I still don’t care for the whole World War I flying ace part but I love watching Charlie Brown get rocks when he is trick or treating.  I think this year I might hand out rocks.  A bag of lava rocks is a lot cheaper than a bag of candy.

Marcel Mareceau: Dead

September 23rd, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

I remember seeing him on Mr. Rogers when I was younger. I am not a huge mime fan. They are kind of scary but you have to give credit to one of the masters.

Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares

September 3rd, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

This fall Fox is debuting Chef Gordan Ramsey in Kitchen Nightmares.  I am a fan of the British version and I am eager to see the American version.  I think the show should transfer well.  I have seen a few teaser clips and the chefs here seem to be more hostile towards him.  It should be some good television.

WWE Suspends Wrestlers

August 31st, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

The WWE has suspended some wrestlers in a steroids investigation.  This comes as no surpise to me.  They have not named who was suspended.  I am sure it will come out sooner or later.

Dog the Bounty Hunter

August 22nd, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

Dog the Bounty Hunter is in the news again.  He is all clear in Mexico but the bond is still out on him in the U.S.  The full story on Dog is here.  When I was in Oahu I made sure I had his information in case I found myself in trouble with the law.

Dog the Bounty Hunter

Update 11/1/07

Seems like Dog jumps from on frying pan into another.  He had is Mexico problems.  Now A&E has suspended production on his show until they can investigate further.  Seems that in a phone conversion with his son he said a few racially insensitive things.  In other words he dropped an N bomb or three.
