The weather is getting warmer. Time to break out the aloha shirts. One of my favorites is the jungle bird print. This shirt was made famous by Tom Selleck in Magnum, P.I. If you are looking for a new shirt for your collection this should be one of them. In a pinch it also can make a great Halloween costume. Just put on the shirt, pair of jeans, Tigers cap and a fake mustache and you have yourself Hawaii’s favorite private investigator.

I was in San Francisco a few years ago. I made it a point to visit the Fairmont Hotel to see the world famous Tonga Room. It didn’t disappoint. It was awesome. A friend sent me an article saying that it might be closing. That would be a shame. Save the Tonga Room!

I was looking at the Hukilau 2009 site and saw that this year they are having a cruise on the Tikki Beach. It kind of looks like a barge that was converted into a a floating tiki bar. Definetly better than your usual booze cruise boat. Well done to the creators of this tiki themed boat/barge/sailing vessel.

If you are looking for something to do tomorrow and your are in the Los Angeles area you should head over to Tiki Ti. Why tomorrow? Because tomorrow King Kukulelepresents The Floating Luau at Tiki Ti. Tiki Diablo will also be there. It starts at 7:00 and there is no cover. I made it to Tiki Ti during my last trip to California. It was a little out of the way from where I was staying but it was worth the trip.

Looking for a tiki light? I have found a pretty cool selling lots of tiki and Hawaii themed lights. They have ukulele lights. Hula lamps with hula girls that move. They even have a Surfer Duke lamp. If you are looking for a light for your bar check them out.

If you are in the market for a ouija board and you are a fan of the tiki, Vampirahna makes a tiki ouija board. It is a little on the pricey side at $99 but they are only available in limited quantities. Of course there is the theory that ouija boards let you communicate with demons and not friendly spirits you are wanting to communicate with. I don’t necessarily buy that but there is no sense taking a chance. I’ve seen The Exorcist and the last thing I need is to have some polynesian demon pissed at me.

You are throwing a luau. You have the food. You have the drinks. You have the decor. Do you have the music? No luau would be complete without the appropriate music. Don’t be one of those people that plays reggae at a luau. Reggae has its place but a luau is not one of those places. The same goes for Jimmy Buffet. No Jimmy Buffet at the luau. What you need is some good Hawaiian music with the ukele and slack key guitar. There are plenty of good musicians. One of my favorites is Daniel Ho. You can’t go wrong with one of his albums.

I have come across a lot of great costumes for infants. This is one of my favorites. It is good for a girl or a boy. All you need is a tin cup to complete the costume. Baby Mai Tai will be wearing this for Halloween. I just need an organ grinder costume for me.

The Hukilau 2008 site is up and running. This year it will be held from 6/12-6/15 and according to the website this will be the last year for The Hukilau. I have never made it to Ft. Lauderdale for the event. I have been to Mai Kai but never for the Hukilau. Looks like I have one more chance to get down there if I want to experience the Hukilau.

If only I lived in California. If I did I would be sure to check out Trader Vic’s. They have opened their warehouse and for a limited time are selling some of their overstock. Alas, I don’t live in California so I am out of luck.
