Fair Food

April 27th, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

Yesterday I went to the fair.  I haven’t been to the the fair in years.  Many people go to the fair for rides.  Not me.   Some of my most terrifying moments were spent on fair rides particularly on a ride called The Rainbow but that is another story for another day.  Being an adult they are even scarier.  I start to wonder how are they maintained and are they maintained and at all.  I want to leave the fair in one piece so I just watched people ride.   I was there primarily  to try some fair food.   On the list of things I wanted to try was Fried Oreos, Fried Twinkies, Fried Coke and Fried Snickers.  We found the Fried Oreos first.  They were pretty good.  Then we found the Fried Snickers.  That was really good but it looked like poo on a stick.  I wasn’t as impressed with the Fried Twinkie.  It wasn’t bad but it was nothing to write home about.  Never did find the Fried Coke.

Sioux City Sux

October 22nd, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

It is official Sioux City SUX.  The airport code for Sioux Gateway Airport is SUX.  Anytime you want to search for a flight you get to enter that fun three letter airport code.  The closest airport to me is Orlando International and their airport code is MCO.  SUX is much more fun.  Sioux City was given some choices of alternate codes.  GAY was one of them.  Would you rather fly into an airport that SUX or one that is GAY?   Sioux City said they will stick with SUX.

St. Augustine Haunted Pub Tour

October 12th, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

Awhile ago we took a long weekend and went to St. Augustine.  I love a good ghost story so we planned on doing a ghost tour while there.  St. Augustine is the oldest continuously occupied city in the continental United Sates. A city with that much history is bound to have its share of ghost stories. Mrs. Mai Tai looked through the available ghost tours and there are quite a few to choose from.  She chose the Haunted Pub Tour.  Awesome. You get to listen to ghost stories and you get to drink as it is essentially a pub crawl to allegedly haunted bars. We visited four different bars or it might have been three.  I don’t remember the evening got a little fuzzy.  I had my digital camera with me and the guide will tell you where to snap some pictures.  We walked past an old cemetery and the guide said take a few shots and see if any ghost orbs show up. I snapped a few and there was a white ball in the photo. It could be a ghost orb or it could be dust or particulates in the air that reflected the flash. I tell everyone it is a ghost orb, it makes for a better story. Tickets are only $16. If you are looking for a ghost tour this is a good one.

Farecast

October 9th, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

If you are like me you never know when to buy your plane tickets.  Is the price good and should I by it today?  Should I hold off and buy it next week and hope it goes down rather than up. Farecast can help you. Plug in the airports and the dates you want to fly and it will give you its prediction to buy now the rates are probably going to go up or wait the fares are probably going to go down.

When Jellyfish Attack

August 5th, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

If you are planning to go to the Florida beaches this weekend beware of jellyfish. The lifeguards have bottles of vinegar in case you do get stung.

Naked People Needed for Swiss Glacier Photo

July 27th, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

Do you like being cold?  Do you like being naked and cold?  If you answered “yes” to both of these I have a great opportunity for you.  Greenpeace in an effort to shed more light on the global warming problem is in need of volunteers to strip down and have their picture taken on a glacier.  According to Greenpeace if the global warming trend continues the glaciers in Switzerland will be disappear by 2080.  Head on over to the Greenpeace website to check it out if you are interested. Just remember to watch your goolies if you go. You don’t want them sticking to the ice.  Another reminder- the glacier might not be the only thing shrinking when you are naked on the glacier so if you are planning to use this to pick up women you might want to think twice.

Souls of Purgatory

July 25th, 2007 by Mr. Mai Tai

I recently was traveling in Phillipsburg, St. Maarten.  It was raining so I took cover in an old church.  While looking around I saw a box that said “Souls of Purgatory.”  I didn’t know you could buy your way out of Purgatory but I thought what the hell and tossed in a few coins.  This might be the extra push I need to make it into heaven.
