Radio Disney Concert Series

June 9th, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

There are many things families can do over the summer.  You can go to the beach.  You can take a cruise.  You can go to the local amusement park.  How about a free concert?  If you are from Jersey and or will be in the area and you are looking for things to do in Jersey you should check out the Radio Disney Summer Concert Series which is going to be held in Wildwood at Morey’s Piers in July.  If you have a kid I am sure you are familiar with Radio Disney.  They play all the music from favorites like Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers.  Now you can take your kid to see some of their favorite groups.  You know there won’t be any problems with explicit lyrics so the concert is good for kids of all ages.    The concerts are taking place on 7/7, 7/14 and 7/21 and they are all free.  They are going to take place at the Radio Disney Stage next to the Giant Ferris Wheel on Morey’s Pier Landing.  7/26 is the big concert featuring Raven Simone and Mitchell Musso from Hanna Montana.  You have to have a ticket for that concert but with your ticket you get $10 off a ticket to Raging Waters or Ocean Oasis or $10 off an amusement pier wristband for Morey’s Piers or $15 off a one-day splash  and ride combo ticket.  How is that for a deal?  Why not make a mini vacation for the family and check out a concert.  There are plenty of Wildwood nj hotels and I am sure you can find one in your price range.

Craigs List Scam

June 2nd, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

I am trying to sell some furnitiure on Craigs List.  I listed the items on Monday.  yesterday I got a response from an interested party.  His first response sounded legit.  He just wanted to know if it was still for sale.  Last night he sent another e-mail this one a bit more suspicious.  I had some free time so I composed an answer.  I don’t think he will respond but if he does I will let you know.

Suspicious E-mail from Micheal Smith

I got all information i needed about it, since you can assure me the goodness of it, i will be purchasing it Like i said earlier, with additional $200 of your asking price. I wish i could visit  you to take a look at it but due to my present Business engagement, i will not be able to come over there to look at it or offer you cash in person, and we have a private shipping company that will handle everything after you have your money in hand. As there are too many scams on internet as regards buying and selling with large bogus account, we need to protect our self, that is why our mode of payment will be via electronic cashier check. Echeck is simple, secured, legal, fast and it is setup to eliminate the stress of  putting check in mail for days. You can read more on how i-versa check works at www.iversacheck.com and also to let you know more about its legitimacy. you must received cash from your bank before the shipping company will come to pick it up.  All what you just need to do is to get a business versacheck paper and versaink, cost of $51.97. Once you have this,  i will send the electronic check to your email for printing. You can then print and proceed to clear and cash the check at your bank. The cost of procuring the check paper and ink will be added to the bottom price. you can get business versa check paper and versa ink,  at office depot, officemax, staples or any stationary store wal-mart  shopping moll around. I will be waiting to read from you soon. get back to me as soon as you get the check paper and ink. you are not the only one i asked from, and first come first serve, buy the material  today, to make it faster.

Thanks God bless you.

My Response

Your offer of an additional $200 is very generous.  However, if you cannot pay cash I will have to raise the price to $2,500. The following is an itemized breakdown of the charges:

$650  Furniture

$200  Additonal- you offered so I will gladly accept

$750  Fuel/Transportation Charge- the closest Office Depot is 7.5  miles away, 15 miles roundtrip.  I estimate that the fuel charge and wear and tear on the car would work out to $50 per mile.

$400  Meals- driving makes me hungry and I will need to eat after driving to Office Depot

$250  Snacks- driving makes me thirsty and it is hot out so I will need to stop in to a 7-11 and grab a Slurpee and some Corn Nuts

$250  Incidental Fees- my wife doesn’t understand business like we do and it will be very hard to explain this business transaction to her.  It is easier to give her $250 and tell her to shut up and go shopping.  $250 should be enough to buy her silence.

Please let me know if these terms are acceptable.

Thank You and God Bless

Ghost in a Bottle

May 31st, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

Shopping for a person that has everything?  Well they probably don’t have a ghost in a bottle.  A company is selling bottles that allegedly have a ghost in it.  They use professional ghost catchers to wrangle the spirits into the bottles and then make them available to the public.  I may need to get one.  I can put it on the shelf next to my pet rock.

Mario Kart Wii

May 27th, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

If you have a Wii then you need this game.  I was a little skeptical when I heard about it but I have to tell you I think it is one of the best games out there for the Wii.  It comes with the Wii wheel whcih takes some getting used to but I now prefer the wheel.  You can always use a standard controller but I have become used to the feel of the wheel.  The best feature is being able to challenge people using your Wi-Fi connection.  I can race my friends and never leave the comfort of my own home.  The only thing that would make it better is a head set so I could communicate to my friends as I race.  Normally I am just yelling at my television. It would be nice to yell at them.

Streaming Files

May 25th, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

I came across Orb a few days ago. You go their website and download their application. The setup was quick and easy. Once you have your account setup it will allow you to stream your music, picture and movie files to other devices. I set it up and quickly was viewing a slideshow of my pictures on my Blackberry. You can also use your game consoles to access your files turning them into media centers. I turned my Wii on. Went to the internet channel and in a few minutes had accessed my account and was viewing more of my pictures and home movies. It was easy to setup. I just don’t know how legal it all is. Sure I can view my own pictures with no problems but I wonder how the RIAA feels about the ability to stream music?

Tiki Ouija Board

May 23rd, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

If you are in the market for a ouija board and you are a fan of the tiki, Vampirahna makes a tiki ouija board.  It is a little on the pricey side at $99 but they are only available in limited quantities.  Of course there is the theory that ouija boards let you communicate with demons and not friendly spirits you are wanting to communicate with.  I don’t necessarily buy that but there is no sense taking a chance.  I’ve seen The Exorcist  and the last thing I need is to have some polynesian demon pissed at me.

Oahu Shrimp Shack

May 21st, 2008 by Mr. Mai Tai

While in Oahu Mrs.  Mai Tai and I rented a car.  We took a drive to the windward side of the island.  I was looking for the North Shore because I wanted to see the surfers and the big waves.  Here is a tip for all you travelers.  There are no signs telling you when you have arrived at the North Shore so make sure you know where your going.  Otherwise you will drive right by it like we did.  Driving makes me hungry and I decided we needed some food.  We started to see lots of shrimp trucks.   If there was just one I would have probably would have just driven by and stopped somewhere else but when you see so many you think that that they can’t be half bad.  Plus we don’t have shrimp trucks in Orlando and it meets my criteria of places to eat when on vacation.  When on vacation you should avoid national chains at all cost.  You can go there anytime.  The place should if at all possible be local and unique.  We stopped at a bright yellow truck that said Shrimp Shack on it.  They had a dining area right next to it.  We both ordered some garlic shrimp with rice and had some corn on the cob as a side.  It was really good.  If you find yourself on the windward side of the island and are hungry try one out for yourself.
